Freelance daily rate calculator for Morocco
Enter the income you want to earn, your expenses and the time you can really bill: the calculator gives the minimum daily rate and the turnover to reach, and checks the auto-entrepreneur ceiling.
What you should have left after expenses and tax on turnover.
Software, equipment, office or coworking, insurance, accountant, travel…
Working days minus public holidays, leave and absences.
The rest: prospecting, admin, training.
The turnover needed exceeds the auto-entrepreneur ceiling for services (MAD 200,000.00): another scheme may be better suited.
Social contributions (CNSS, AMO) are not included: add them to your expenses if you know them.

The method
Turnover to reach = (target income + expenses) ÷ (1 − rate of tax on turnover). Billed days = days worked × billable share. Daily rate = turnover ÷ billed days, rounded up to the next dirham.
How many days can you bill?
A year has about 260 working days. Subtract public holidays, your leave and a margin for sickness: often a little over 210 days remain. A freelancer never bills 100% of that time: prospecting, quotes, accounting and training take a large share.
The auto-entrepreneur scheme
For services, the tax is 1% of turnover collected, up to 200,000 MAD per year (CGI, art. 42 ter and 73-III). For a single client, the part collected above 80,000 MAD in the year is taxed through 30% withholding tax by that client (art. 42 bis and 73-II-G-8°): keep this in mind if you work mainly for one client.
Example
Target income: 180,000 MAD; expenses: 18,000 MAD; 218 days worked, 75% of them billed, i.e. 163.5 days; auto-entrepreneur (1%). Turnover needed: (180,000 + 18,000) ÷ 0.99 = 200,000 MAD, i.e. a daily rate of 1,224 MAD excl. VAT. This turnover reaches the 200,000 MAD ceiling: at this level, the auto-entrepreneur scheme is no longer enough.
